Scout Chef Kitchen Presents: Camp Kitchen Necessities
Welcome back to #ScoutChefKitchen! It’s time to talk about how to make your camp kitchen straight up next level. In the past, I have had a pretty sweet camping set up, but when we were talking about what we wanted to do next with Scout Chef Kitchen… we decided to up my game in the outdoor kitchen arena.
If you haven’t checked out my level of excitement around these new pieces, be sure to watch – I break down my favorite features.
- GCI Master Cook Station: This has been on my wish list since I discovered it years ago. We currently do all of our prep work and food set up while camping on picnic tables or the tops of our storage bins, and let me tell you. There is NEVER enough room. I opened this thing up and it was like the angels started singing. The amount of straight up prep space is incredible, and it also has SO MUCH additional storage for anything you can think of or need.
- Pop-Up Fire Pit: I have talked about this one before, but NOW I FINALLY HAVE ONE and I am so excited. This fire pit is made from all aluminum, so it cools instantly. Meaning that once your fire is put out and cool, you can pack it right up with no wait. The aluminum also keeps it lightweight and easy to carry. It is really a great way to Leave No Trace, and especially great for areas with no fire rings.
- Camp Chef Explorer 2-Burner Stove: Like I said, I had some really great gear before, but I’ve had my eye on this stove (it also comes in a 3-burner option as well). It is really versatile and can be set up on a table OR used with the included leg extensions to stand it up on its own. I love this guy because it has a super large cook area that allows for bigger pots and pans, and it also comes with plenty of upgrades and attachments (like this sweet griddle top… which I already have plans to come at you all with a 10 Ways to Use a Griddle Top… so stay tuned!).
- Coleman LED Lantern: I was looking specifically for a larger lantern to hang on the cook station, and I LOVE this one. It is a twin-bulb LED that runs on 8-D batteries and lasts for almost 300 hours! Another feature that I really love about this lantern is the fact that the LED bulbs stay cool to the touch (a great safety feature for me since I have a 4-year-old… and I also want to bring this into my tent without worrying that it will catch something on fire).
- GSI Troop Cook Set: I am a big fan of the size of this kit – I was looking for something larger that I could cook for the family on and this accomplishes the job! It comes with an 8.5-liter pot, a 5-liter pot, a large pan, along with 2 lids (for both of the pots, and the lid for the larger pot fits on the pan as well). It is high quality and made to last, AND all of the pieces nest inside of each to fit into the included carry bag.
- GSI Coffee Percolator: In the past, I have used my single-cup pour over to make coffee while camping, which was a little cumbersome when both my husband and I tend to drink two cups of coffee in the morning. I love this pot because it makes 9 cups and we can ditch the throwaway filters (yay less waste and less mess!). Just like the Troop Cook Set, this percolator is made of stainless steel and is really durable.
- GSI Dinnerware Set: I am going to be really honest… I don’t do disposable plates and utensils (I am really doing my best to protect our planet!) so in the past… I have taken our (very heavy) dinnerware to go camping with. It is not super ideal when you are packing, not to mention really heavy and nerve-wracking (I love our dinnerware and don’t want to break it!). This kit covers all the basics and is just plain easy. It’s lightweight, durable and low-profile, which makes it easy to pack into our bins (and if you are wondering what I am talking about with the bins, check out this blog where I break down my favorite way to organize to go car-camping).
Stay tuned for all of the new #ScoutChefKitchen recipes that will be coming your way using all of these new necessities!
