Easily Assemble Your Cub Scout Uniform
Assembling your Cub Scout uniform can be an exciting experience, and ensuring you have all the necessary pieces is important before the fun of Scouting begins. First and foremost, you'll need a uniform top and bottom. The uniform top is typically a blue shirt with the Cub Scout logo and patches, while the uniform bottom can vary from blue shorts to pants, depending on your preference.
What are the Components of a Cub Scout Uniform?
In a nutshell, the Cub Scouts uniform consists of a few different aspects, and again, your leaders will be able to guide you on how your specific unit “looks.”
- Top: Official Lion rank t-shirt
- Bottoms: You have a few different optional options for these, and we break them down below
- Belt: Official optional navy-blue web belt with metal buckle
- Cap: Official navy-blue Lion cap
- Socks: Cub Scout socks are optional for the Lion rank
- Neckerchief: Your den will decide if you will wear the optional neckerchief.
- Neckerchief slide: There is an optional neckerchief slide available
There is no uniform inspection sheet for Lions.
- Top: The official blue uniform shirt is available with long or short sleeves and has button-flap pockets
- Bottoms: You have a few different options for these, and we break them down below
- Belt: Official navy-blue web belt with metal buckle
- Cap: Official navy blue, rank-specific hat
- Socks: Official socks are available in three lengths: ankle, crew, and knee. Tiger socks have an orange band on the top
- Neckerchief: Official rank-specific neckerchief (official BSA neckerchiefs are the only neckerchiefs that are part of the uniform)
- Neckerchief slide: Official rank-specific slide (Cub Scouts may wear handmade neckerchief slides)
- Insignia
- The Council Shoulder Patch or CSP which denotes the council you are a part of
- The World Crest Emblem and Ring
- Unit numerals
- Den numerals
- Top: The official tan uniform shirt is available with long or short sleeves and has button-flap pockets.
- Bottoms: You have a few different options for these, from shorts to the classic zip-offs.
- Belt: Official navy-blue web belt with a metal buckle or the green web belt with a BSA buckle is acceptable for the 2022-23 program year
- Cap: Official green hat with Webelos plaid front and Webelos emblem.
- Shoulder Loops: Webelos wear navy blue.
- Socks: Official socks are available in three lengths: ankle, crew, and knee. Tiger socks have an orange band on the top.
- Neckerchief: Webelos plaid triangular neckerchief with Webelos logo (official BSA neckerchiefs are the only neckerchiefs that are part of the uniform)
- Neckerchief slide: Official gold-tone metal slide with Webelos emblem (Cub Scouts may wear handmade neckerchief slides)
- The Webelos Colors: Optional uniform piece that is worn on the right sleeve to display the Webelos Adventure Pins that have been earned. If the Webelos Colors are not used, Webelos Adventure Pins may be worn on the Webelos hat.

The patches/emblems listed above are required as a part of the official uniform and are sold separately from your shirt. Your leaders can guide you on placement or check out placement instructions here.
